The US firm which is headquartered in Irving, Texas has warned that the protest blockade is threatening crude production at its oil facilities and highlighted that the disruption to their operations has the potential to significantly impact its revenues in the Nigerian market.

Exxon Mobil was forced address the unresolved protest in Nigeria as the blockade by former workers now enters its six-week. Mobil Producing Nigeria, which is the Exxon Mobil subsidiary charged with the responsibility of exporting oil from the country on behalf of the US energy behemoth released the official statement, and highlighted that it produces over 550,000 barrels per-day of crude oil,

Nigeria’s average production in the second quarter of 2018 was 1.8 million barrels per day, according to the country’s statistics office.

In ExxonMobil’s statement the blockades have been described as the “playing of loud music, defacing of company facilities - and the intimidation of personnel.

The continued denial of access to production facilities could impact the company’s ability to safely continue production operations,” ExxonMobil said.
